A New Record

I have thoroughly enjoyed documenting the long-overdue reconnections with old friends that I haven’t seen in decades. Up until this point, those folks have all been friends from college, with the exceptions of my cousin and my old riding partner. Today, I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend I hadn’t seen since our high school graduation in 1982. We think maybe we saw each other in December ‘82 during our first winter breaks from college.

Kevin Tyle was the valedictorian of the Pittsford Sutherland class of 1982. He was (and still is) an avid baseball fan and music aficionado, as well as a staff member in the University of Albany Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Science. We swapped many stories about gym class exploits (Kevin was the offensive coordinator for our football team in class), driver’s ed, and various teachers including our Spanish teacher who also fronted a new wave band called Personal Effects (that we saw open for Modern English in a club in Rochester). Kevin’s husband, Bryan, politely endured all of our storytelling and reminiscing. Unless something completely unexpected happens over the next couple months, Kevin will go into the record books as the longest time between get-togethers. I will be seeing several other high school friends in the next few weeks, but all are friends that I’ve seen at least once in the last 40 years.

Another shout-out to my homies at the office and on the project sites. Actually two shout-outs, right next door to each other.

To all my fellow Zac Brown fans, I spent most of my morning on the Highway 20 Ride

Stopped a great downhill to get this shot. Thankfully, the hill lasted another mile and a half so I got my speed back up!

The great Kevin Tyle

The day was split into before lunch and after. These are actually backwards as the one on the right came first.
